    The Parents and Grandparents Super Visa is an extended visitor visa. This visa is primarily for the parents and grandparents of Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents who wish to meet their closed ones in Canada.

    This is an extended and multiple entry Visitor Visa. The Super Visa holders are permitted to stay in Canada for up to two years. Furthermore, the super visa holders do not need to renew their status within this two-year duration.

    With this visa, the applicants can visit Canada multiple times in a 10-year duration. The validity of the super visa is no more than ten years. In contrast, the ordinary visitor visa has a maximum validity of six months.

     

    • Eligibility

    In order to be eligible for the super visa, the applicants must:

    • Be the parents or grandparents of the Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
    • Have a signed letter from your child or grandchild who invites you to Canada.
    • The Canadian citizen or permanent resident must be able to bear the expenses of the visitors financially.
    • The letter must include a list and number of people in the household of a permanent resident or Canadian citizen.
    • A copy of the person’s Canadian Citizenship or Permanent resident document
    • They must have medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company
    • It must be valid for at least one year
    • The insurance must have a $100,000 coverage
    • There must be valid proof of paid medical insurance

    • The applicant must apply for a super visa from outside Canada

    • Undertake an immigration medical exam

    • Proof of funds

    The proof of funds is the necessary thing to demonstrate. The child or grandchild who is inviting must demonstrate sufficient proof of funds that their household has the minimum necessary income.

    • How to Apply

    The applications for a Super visa can be made by:

    Applicants must show that they are the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident in any circumstance. A letter of invitation from a child or grandchild with plans must be included with the application.

    In addition, candidates must show that they have private health insurance from a Canadian insurance provider. It must be valid for at least one year. The child or grandchild must also show that they have enough money to support the grandparents or parents for the duration of the stay by reaching the LICO requirement for their family unit size.

    • Is Super Visa Extendable?

    Holders with super visas are allowed to stay in Canada for up to two years. They must seek to extend their stay in Canada if they want to remain longer than two years.

    The application for a super visa extension should be submitted no later than 30 days before the current status expires. If an existing visa expires while application for an extension is being reviewed, the applicants can stay in Canada until a decision is made.
