    Yukon Immigration

Yukon is a Canadian federal territory with stunning scenery and enthralling mountain ranges. Yukon is named from an aboriginal watercourse that means “Big Stream.” Aside from the tourism attractions, Yukon is one of the best places in Canada to look for work. With a population of little over 30,000 people, the Yukon labor market desperately needs skilled foreign employees to supply the strong demand for skilled and semi-skilled jobs.

    • Immigrate to Yukon

The provinces of Canada with a low population and are less developed require skilled foreign workers and technical workers to come to provinces. Similarly, Yukon needs skilled workers to fulfill the labor shortages and economic needs to support the province. It’s a collection of immigration processes that permits non-Canadians to become permanent residents of the country. In the Yukon Territory, there are several immigration routes.

    • Yukon Skilled Worker
    • Yukon Express Entry
    • Yukon Critical Impact Worker
    • Yukon Business Nominee
    • Yukon Community Pilot

These immigration programs allow foreign workers to become permanent residents in Canada, specifically residing in Yukon province.

The National Occupational Classification (NOC) of the employment offer determines your stream:

The Critical Impact Worker stream includes jobs with NOC Skill Levels C or D, whereas the Skilled Worker stream includes occupations with NOC Skill Levels 0, A, or B.

For example, if you’ve been given a job as a Food Counter Attendant (NOC code 6711), you’d apply under the Critical Impact Worker stream since you fall under NOC skill level D.

Employers can apply for the Skilled Worker or Express Entry streams if they want to nominate a skilled worker.

    • Eligibility

The Provincial Nominee candidates from both inside and outside of Canada can apply to the Yukon Nominee Program. To be eligible for the Yukon Nominee Program, the applicant must meet the following requirements:

    • Have a full-time, year-round work offer from a Yukon employer who qualifies
    • Meet the requirements of your application stream’s unique criteria.

You must fulfill the qualifying conditions to be considered for the Yukon Business Nominee Program.

    • If the applicant is a refugee claimant or is inadmissible to Canada, he or she will be ineligible.

    • Yukon Skilled Worker

Foreign nationals having professional work experience and a legitimate employment offer from a Yukon company can apply for a provincial nomination through the Yukon Skilled Worker stream. This route permits candidates to apply directly to IRCC for Canadian permanent residency after receiving a provincial nomination. The Yukon Skilled Worker Category targets candidates for employment in NOC skill levels 0, A, and B.

    • Yukon Express Entry

The applicants who are enrolled in the pool, have an Entry profile, and a legitimate employment offer from a Yukon business can apply for a provincial nomination from Yukon through the Yukon Express Entry stream. The Yukon Express program is aligned with the federal Express Entry immigration system. Furthermore, this allows the successful candidates to have their immigration petitions processed more quickly in the Express Entry pool.

The stream is further classified into the following pathways:

    • Yukon Express Entry Skilled Worker
    • Yukon Express Entry Skilled Trades
    • Yukon Express Entry Canada Experience Class

    • How to Apply for Yukon Express Entry in Canada

You can apply in the A, 0, or B categories of the National Occupational Classification. To get a valid work permit, the foreign worker must meet all the standards set out by the federal economic immigration program.

    • Step 1: Fill out an Express Entry application.
    • Step 2: Obtaining a Nomination from the province.
    • Step 3: Complete the application.
    • Step 4: Submit your application by the deadline.

    • Yukon Critical Impact Worker

Qualified people with semi-skilled work experience and a legitimate employment offer from a Yukon company can apply for a provincial nomination through the Yukon Critical Impact Worker stream. This route permits candidates to apply directly to IRCC for Canadian permanent residency after receiving a provincial nomination.

Candidates for employment in NOC skill levels C and D are targeted through the Yukon Critical Impact Worker Category. For the role being nominated, a minimum of six months of closely related work experience is required.

Education and work experience that meet all employment qualifications according to the National Occupational Classification’s guidelines. Completion of high school is required.

    • Steps to apply:

The applicants are allowed to apply under NOC Group C or D category. The initial steps to apply for it includes:

    • Step 1: Submitting an Express Entry profile in the pool
Step 2: Getting a nomination from the province.
Step 3: Filling application for ITA.
Step 4: Submitting the completed application.

    • Yukon Business Nominee

Individuals with commercial and entrepreneurial skills can apply for this immigration program. Applicants who want to own and operate a business in the Yukon may apply for permanent residence through the Yukon Business Nominee stream. In addition to completing other program conditions, applicants must have a personal net worth of CAD 500,000.

Candidates are first granted a two-year work visa in Yukon before being recommended for permanent residence if their firm succeeds. A net worth of at least $500,000 has been legally acquired and validated by a Yukon accounting company.

A minimum of $300,000 in liquid assets obtained legally, as recorded and certified by a Yukon accounting company.

    • Yukon Community Pilot

The Yukon Community Pilot (YCP) is a new immigration stream of the Yukon Provincial Nominee Program. The Yukon Community pilot was created to address the specific economic and labor market needs of the Yukon. The qualifying candidates from this stream will be granted a 2-year location-restricted open work permit. From this work permit, they will have to work in Yukon province.

Furthermore, the eligible foreign workers possessing a full-time job offer from a valid employer in Yukon can also apply for the Yukon Nominee Program.

In addition, the Yukon Community Program is open to eligible foreign employees having two to three part-time job offers from one to three approved Yukon enterprises.

    • Processing time for Yukon PNP:

The processing time for each stream may differ. However, the processing time can vary according to numerous conditions, including stream, applicant nationality, documentation, etc.

Furthermore, the processing time for the Yukon Nominee Program application is between 12-14 weeks.
