Prince Edward Island is an eastern and maritime province of Canada, neighboring New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program expedites immigration to Canada for individuals and their families who meet provincial criteria in order to support four initiatives: increased business and economic development, increased supply of skilled workers, increased population, and achievement of provincial demographic, social, and cultural goals.

Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program
The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) has multiple immigration paths aimed at immigrants with business experience, skilled employees, and recent post-secondary graduates.
The PEI PNP offers potential entrants the opportunity to get a provincial nomination through one of the various immigration streams, perhaps speeding up their journey to permanent residency in Canada. There are three types of immigration streams in operation in the province:
- PEI Express Entry
- PEI Labour Impact
- PEI Business Impact

Prince Edward Island Express Entry Stream
Eligible candidates interested in living and working on Prince Edward Island and are in the federal Express Entry pool may be eligible for PEI Express Entry. The contenders must be eligible for one of the federal economic immigration classes.
However, Express Entry PNP will only evaluate candidates whose skills and experience meet the province’s actual labor demands. Those candidates who are already enrolled in the federal Entry Express Pool are considered for PEI Express Entry. Candidates must register for the Express Entry system, which the federal government runs. Candidates who are eligible for one of the federal economic immigration programs are given priority in this route.
- PEI Express Entry
- Prince Edward Island Ranking System
Applicants who desire to come to Prince Edward Island through the PEI PNP must first construct an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile in the province’s system. Based on this profile, applicants will be given a score, and the top-scoring prospects will be requested to submit an application during regular intakes.

Individuals who a PEI company has previously recruited are eligible for an accelerated path to permanent residency if they get PEI PNP via these programs.
-
Skilled Workers in PEI
The Skilled Workers in PEI can apply for permanent residence through this stream. The applicants must intend to live in Prince Edward Island.
-
Skilled Workers Outside Canada
Workers who are currently outside of Canada and have met the basic immigration requirements are also eligible to apply.
-
Critical Worker
This immigration stream is intended to address the island’s scarcity of specialized employees.
-
International Graduate
The International Graduate Program can help recent graduates to obtain permanent residence who are working in the province.

Prince Edward Island Business Impact Category
Individuals desiring to come to Canada on a business visa can benefit the PEI PNP’s Business Impact stream. They can do it by starting an enterprise with 100 percent ownership or investing in a new or current PEI business. They can also acquire a work visa by investing in a PEI firm, which will allow them to adjust to their new life in Canada and PEI more quickly.
Individuals who apply through the P.E.I. Work Permit Stream must first get a Canadian work permit and then work for a P.E.I. firm for a set period of time, as specified in a Performance Agreement.
Following the completion of the Performance Agreement, the applicant must spend a minimum of $150,000 in the business and commit to managing it daily from within P.E.I.
