    Federal Skilled Trades Class (FST) is amongst the three primary immigration programs of Canada. The Federal Skill Trades Class is constituted under the Federal Express Entry System of Canada.

    This stream allows the highly skilled and technical workers to immigrate to Canada. It is considered one of the easiest and efficient pathways for Canadian Immigration.

    Those foreign nationals who want to become Canadian citizens or they wish to obtain a Canadian Permanent residence, can opt for Federal Skilled Trades Class as their immigration program.

    • Federal Skilled Trades Program Requirements:

    • Skilled work experience

    • Major Group 72: Industrial, electrical and construction trades
    • Major Group 73: Maintenance and equipment operation trades
    • Major Group 82: Supervisors and technical jobs in natural resources, agriculture and related production
    • Major Group 92: Processing, manufacturing and utility supervisors and central control operators
    • Minor Group 632: Chefs and cooks
    • Minor Group 633: Butchers and bakers

    The skilled work experience of the candidates must be within the previous 10 years. Moreover, the work experience candidates possess, it must be paid, continuous, and must not be volunteer work. The work experience as a student can also be considered.

    The applicants should be able to demonstrate that they have performed the occupational duties in their prior work experience.

    • Language Proficiency

    The applicants are required to undertake the approved language tests for the language proficiency checkup. The language tests are for the assessment of the candidates in the following sectors of the English or French language:

    • Reading
    • Writing
    • Listening
    • Speaking

    The minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 is required in speaking and listening skills, and a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4 for reading and writing. The test must be taken within the previous 2 years, and the test should be valid when you apply for the application.

    • Education

    IRCC has set up easy criteria in which there is no education requirement. In some scenarios, where the candidates want to increase their points, then they can submit their educational degrees. In the case of foreign education, the candidates are required to undergo an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA). There are various degree assessment organizations from where you can get an equivalency of your degree.

    These credential assessment bodies in Canada can provide equivalence:

    • WES
    • ICAS
    • IQAS
    • CES

     

    • Residence in Canada:

    The applicant must have an intention to live outside the Quebec province of Canada.

    • Admissibility in Canada:

    The applicant must be admissible to Canada; he/she does not pose any threat to the country.

     

    • Proof of funds

    The primary applicant must need to demonstrate sufficient funds to support oneself or his family members when they arrive in Canada.

    • Minimum Funds:

    When the applicants land in Canada under permanent residence, there is a minimum amount required to have, unless the visa officer can cancel the PR status. The amount according to the number of members has been listed:

    • FST Application Process:

    Those candidates who are interested in applying for the Federal Skilled Trades Program should submit their Express Entry profile to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

    After submitting the Express Entry profile, the candidates will be issued with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The candidates can be invited for the future Express Entry draws, and they can also get provincial nominations.

    These are the essential documents required to submit an FSW profile.

    • Successful candidates:

    After the candidates receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), then the applicants have 60 days to submit an electronic application for Permanent Residence (eAPR).
