    Live-in Caregiver

Caregivers who are not enrolled in the Live-in Caregiver Program are not obligated to live in their employer’s house. A live-in arrangement may still be viable if the caregiver you are considering employing agrees. The LMIA application must include a description of the live-in arrangement.

    Work Permit and LMIA

You may engage a caregiver who is currently enrolled in the Live-in Caregiver Program and wants to continue working on a live-in basis. To do so, you must obtain an LMIA, and the caregiver must obtain a new work permit.

It takes time to hire someone from another country. During that time, you may wish to consider another solution for your caregiving needs. Determine how long it will take to complete the process.

    Hiring

To hire a live-in caregiver through the Live-in Caregiver Program, you must first make an effort to fill your position with a Canadian, permanent resident, or foreign worker who is already in Canada.

You must be able to pay them.

Provide them with a suitable living place in your home.

Make a job offer to care for a youngster, an elderly person, or a person with a disability.

Have applied to Service Canada for a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), including the employment contract, before November 30, 2014. To provide you with an LMIA, Service Canada will collaborate with Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC).

Before cares are allowed to enter Canada, they will be thoroughly screened by a visa office. Caregivers applying to work in Canada under the LCP must have the following qualifications: completed an education equivalent to a Canadian secondary school diploma,

At least six months of full-time classroom caregiving training or one year of work experience as a career or in a related position within the last three years (including at least six months of ongoing work with one employer),

The capacity to speak, read, and understand English or French, allowing them to operate independently without supervision.

Medical, security and criminal clearances are all required. And a signed written employment contract with a Canadian company.
